About
The Hotel has been providing a warm welcome to guests from around the world for over 300 years, but under new ownership, we are only just getting started.
The Kilfinan Hotel has been welcoming guests for over 3 centuries. Originally serving as a coaching inn for weary travelers making their journeys through Cowal, the Hotel has evolved to a much-loved destination for visitors to explore and experience Argyll’s secret coast. The Hotel's history is a fascinating one. For example, Lord Mountbatten stayed during the 2nd World War as he and his staff prepared for the D-Day landings, whilst Parahandy is likely to have dropped in for a dram whilst steaming through the Loch.
The Hotel is presently owned and run by Helena & Chris, with the help of their Golden Retriever, Edie, together with friends and family. They took over the Kilfinan in December 2020, making the jump into hospitality following careers in Higher Education, which has involved swapping the daily commute and endless meetings for catching sheep in the car park and sourcing the best whiskies for the bar.
We are currently in the process of renovating and personalising the Hotel, including seeking to become as ecologically sustainable as possible, to offer guests a unique, dog-friendly retreat to relax, idle, and enjoy the beautiful Cowal peninsula.
Our journey as novice hoteliers so far has been fun and one day we might even write a book about it...
